RESULTS

Overall, this project was incredibly time-consuming but educationally rewarding. We recommend, however, that future groups pick projects that can be more thoroughly explored, understood and implemented in a short period of time. We were able to finish our SPICE simulation, create a basic optimization in MATLAB for the inductor, rewrite a portion of the course libraries to implement PWM and USART for use on our boards, design a successful gate charge pump circuit for driving our multiple-stage MOSFETs, put together a schematic and PCB in Altium, ship it, and assemble it, but got caught in the last few weeks with PCB issues, including overheating a board and damaging some components, finding two ports had been switched accidentally on some of our charge pumps, and being unable to locate the last few shorts in a partial (single-phase) second assembly of the board.
